Back in December RIM opened a Tech Center in Brazil. It seems almost every day now that a new Canadian retailer joins the growing list of places to preorder a new BlackBerry 10 device. The Mobile Shop (a cellphone store located in Loblaws locations) has joined the list and will now allow for BlackBerry 10 preorders as well. RIM has revised their licensing agreement with InterDigital today, adding coverage for 4G devices moving forward. RIM previously had a non-exclusive agreement with InterDigital and with the new terms adds coverage for 4G products including LTE devices. RIM and Nokia settled their differences last week in their ongoing patent case. While originally it was unsure of the actual payment amount, in RIM's 6-K filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, it was disclosed that Nokia will be receiving an initial payment of $65 million in addition to "ongoing payments" from RIM for use of the patents.
