CrackBerry Podcast 053: Pearl 3G review; CB Idol announced and lots more BlackBerry banter...
Listen Now!

Time for another CrackBerry Podcast! In this show we cover quite a bit of stuff.... Bla1ze gives his impressions of the BlackBerry Pearl 3G (full review hitting the blogs soon), I announce CrackBerry Idol and between the crew we cover a lot of BlackBerry news and go through a bunch of community emails. There's interesting discussion about the new AT&T data plans, we hypothesize on how much we want (or don't necessarily want) the 9800 slider and a whole lot more. Enjoy the show!
* Update: Not sure exactly what glitched on the podcast when I first uploaded it...but should be fixed now. Total show is 77minutes... should be a 35.8MB file. Thanks for the patience. Sorry on that! *

Thanks so much for using the intro guys! I will use the gift very wisely as I just ordered a Pearl 3G today for a secondary device to my 9700! So my new pearl is def going to need a few new accessories!

Has anyone noticed that around 15:50 and 16:02 some audio went missing? It goes from talking about receiving free Crackberry stickers for winning the Crackberry Idol, straight to Android devices.
It does it both on my 9700 and my laptop computer.

yea i noticed that too, thought i was going mad as it was only half hour long!!

You should know that half hour and Crackberry do not happen. ;)
And yes, that is a good thing. I think a half hour Crackberry podcast would be depressing. LOL

I am having the same problem. It jumped on me around 15:50 and trying to rewind made it unplayable. I re-downloaded to the same problem. Frustrating commute home.
I was using podtrapper to play back the podcast.
Can you guys check this out and post a new version?

Wow i waited almost 3 weeks to see what they thought on the 9800 video, and what did i get nothing!!!! Whats the deal with that?
Bla1ze Jun 3, 2010 at 11:59 pm
It's just a video...not really too much to say about it. With things like that, you need to play with it and then comment about it. The video looked promising but what else can ya really say about it?

I only have 102 contacts on my 9700, it takes forever to startup. Gotta be some other reason for the slow boot time as even when I did a security wipe it took forever to restart.

Finally, thank you Craig for pointing out the fact that RIM cannot further compress video which was compressed originally. This tidbit is very important to grasp and quite frankly is never mentioned by RIM staff.

did noone notice Kevin saying Talladega at the end? He did the same thing saying Cobalt a few PCs ago. What a TEASE! Mr.T is my most anticipated phone of the year, my blackberry life hinges on it! KEVIN GIVE US MORE!.

I just wanted to say that I bought the G1 right when it came out..jan 09.. had a sidekick before.. well, it was great for the first 6 months.. then it turned to crap.. i finally was able to afford a new phone so I got a BB bold 9700.. my decision to get a BB was based on dependability and most of the apps i used was in the appworld or downloadable..
I have had my phone since 6/10 and I love it!!!!! i will never go back to android for a very long time..
Anyway, am listening to your podcast and decided to let you know there are peeps that went from android to bb..

Even though I am a VZW Customer I was upset about the data plan changes AT&T made. Your take on it made me look at it in a completely different way. I am the type of person that usually will get the bigger plan for the "just encase" months. Now I have no qualms about switching carriers to get the Slider.
