BlackBerry Connect to be Offered on Five New HTC Windows Mobile-based Devices

Research In Motion announced this week at the 3GSM World Congress plans to offer BlackBerry Connect software on five new Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices from HTC to carriers around the world, including the HTC S710 launched at the 3GSM World Congress 2007 in Barcelona, Spain.

BlackBerry Connect on HTC handsets supports push-based wireless email access, wireless email reconciliation and attachment viewing in conjunction with both BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Internet Service.

Calling Phone Numbers Containing Letters

Steph writes: "I want to call a number that has letters in it…such as 1-800-GOT-MILK. But the keys on my BlackBerry are not like those on a regular phone and I don’t know what the corresponding numbers should be. How do I make that call on my Qwerty keyboard Blackberry?"

It’s actually very simple.

You can go to the phone function and begin dialing or you can actually just start hitting the numbers from your home screen and the phone application will open automatically.

Dial 1-8-0-0 or whatever the number prefix is. When you get to the letter, press the ALT key and hold and press the letters you need. The Blackberry will automatically figure out what numbers should be dialed. Press the click wheel and the call is imitated.

New Wi-Fi Enabled 8820 Coming Soon?

The people over at Pinstack have been all over this rumor for the last few days.

Will there be a WiFi enabled 8800 Blackberry coming out soon? Apparently so.

It seems that the good folks at RIM have been talking about this for a while and we at CrackBerry are pretty confident the new Wi-Fi enabled 8820 will be coming out in the summer.

Have CrackBerrys Made it Easier to Lie?

A British pollster says it is easier to be ‘economical with the truth’ when using BlackBerry.

More than four out of five people admit to telling little white lies at least once a day says a survey conducted by UK pollsters. The preferred way of being "economical with the truth" is to use technology such as cell phones, texts and e-mails. “Techno-treachery” was widespread apparently, with nearly 75 percent of people saying gadgets like BlackBerrys made it easier to fib. More than half of respondents said using BlackBerrys made them feel less guilty when telling a lie than doing it face to face. The workplace was the favorite location for fibbing, with 67 percent of the 1,487 respondents admitting that they had lied at work.

The study was conducted on behalf of a financial-services company.

10 Great Time Savers for CrackBerry Users

Crackberry users are all about the time savings. The handy little PDA can save us all a lot of time. Yet, there are lots of little hints that can save even more time. So in order to save you from perusing the manuals to find all these little gems we present our top Crackberry shortcuts.

1. Perhaps the best time saving key is the easy uppercase function. Press and hold any letter in order to capitalize.

2. In a related short cut, if you are need of an accent grave or an umlaut press both the Symbol key and the letter you need modified and then turn the side wheel until the appropriate letter character shows up. Great for those German or French CrackBerry addicts. Pressing the symbol key alone will bring up a number of useful symbols and currency signs.

How To Install GPS on Your CrackBerry

I was having dinner with a friend who works in the Transportation Department aof the local government and he was marveling about the new Blackberry Maps feature and how it will aid him in his job. "If only it had GPS" he lamented. Well, Martha it is now possible to get GPS on the CrackBerry. As you would expect it isn’t as easy as simply downloading a software program but here is how you can do it.

BlackBerryMaps is only available for devices running software 4.1 and newer so, for the purpose of this article, we will use the new Pearl and how to synch the GPS with Blackberry Maps. If you want to use the Location Based Services (LBS) features of BlackBerry Maps, you will need either a BlackBerry with an internal GPS (which can be very slow) do it is recommended that you have get Bluetooth GPS Receiver (GPS Puck).
