"Seidio's long history of mobile protection lives strong in the Innocase Active"
In Short:"Trusted protection and style"
Should I Buy?
"Makes your BlackBerry Torch 9810/9800 easier to use with one hand." BUY NOW
It’s safe to say that the more moving parts there are on a BlackBerry smartphone, the greater the chance you have of dropping it. Think about it; say you’re running to a meeting-You have your bag or coffee in one hand, and your BlackBerry in another. Suddenly, you get an urgent email from your boss. Unable to focus on the virtual keyboard, you attempt to slide your BlackBerry Torch 9810 or 9800 open to use the physical one. The next thing you know, you’re watching your Torch slip out of your hand and hit the ground. If only you had more protection on it.
Now a while back, I tried out the Seidio Innocase Active for the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and 9800. I was quite impressed with their CONVERT combo, so I wanted to check out something a little less portly. With a thickness of just over 2 millimetres, what kind of protection can it offer?

In Short:"Easiest way to charge your smartphone"
Should I Buy?
"If you're not a fan of wires, you NEED a Powermat" BUY NOW
I am not a big fan of cables – I try to avoid them when I can. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard, I have a Bluetooth speaker phone in my car and I have a stereo Bluetooth headset for when I’m taking the heel-toe express. The one cable that seems to keep me tied down is my BlackBerry charger. I know, it seems petty, but it’s not so much when I’m half asleep, in the dark, fumbling with the charger and charging port. Anyone with extremely active kids knows that the less time you take to plug in your phone, the less time they have to do things they’re not supposed to do (like playing hockey IN the house).
That’s why I like a wireless charging system from the good folks at Powermat. No wires, just power and convenience. While not available for the BlackBerry Bold 9900, it is available for other BlackBerry smartphones, including the BlackBerry Torch 9800 and 9810. For simple charging in a not so simple lifestyle, Powermat is a must have.

[youtube link for mobile viewing]To be honest, I'm brutal on my BlackBerrys. They've been dropped in the street and bounced off all kinds of floors. Needless to say I've gone through quite a few since owning the Torch 9800 probably because I am a chronic klutz and hate using pocketbooks. it's a horrible combination but I prefer having my device holstered on my hip then packed away in a bag. While it makes my load lighter it increases the chance of serious injury to my BB. So I went for the case/holster combo.
Continue Reading →I have not been exactly kind to my BlackBerry holsters. Over the short few years I've owned a BlackBerry, I've owned many; I even reviewed an excellent case and holster combo here on CrackBerry. And yet through one way or another, I've destroyed them all. "Normal Wear and Tear" has never met the likes of me. I've slammed holsters in car doors, rammed them into counter tops, dropped them from great height, and in general, abused the heck out of them. All of them protected my phone quite well, but no holster can withstand forever the barrage of abuse I can throw at it.
Not wanting to buy yet another holster, I began looking for other options. Then I found the Smartphone Experts Pocket Pouch for BlackBerry Torch 9800. It's a hard leather case designed to protect your ‘Berry from the dangers of life in a pocket or purse. Carrying my smartphone in my pocket means I'm not going to slam it into door or get my phone caught uncomfortably in a car's seat belt. Protected inside its case, I don't have to worry about keys, change, and whatever else is in my pockets destroying my Torch's screen.

When it comes to my BlackBerry I am a certified addict. From the moment I wake up to the minute I go to bed my BlackBerry Torch never leaves my side. The only problem is that my constant use puts a significant drain on the battery. I'm sure you're all familiar with the utter frustration that follows finding a dead battery. For me I don't even make it to lunch. This makes me one unhappy camper.
To get me through the day I use the BlackBerry charging pod. It is the first accessory I purchase for each and every device I own. I hate to say this but I never go anywhere without it. At home it's either on my nightstand as an alarm clock or connected to my PC for syncing and charging. At work it's never more than an arm's length away to make sure I have enough juice for the journey home. I love that I can dock my device and spend all day listening to my music library or stream my favorite radio stations.

Continue Reading →It wasn't all that long ago now that RIM acquired the social CRM, online contact management service -- Gist. Now, here we are only a few months later and Gist has just announced the release of their BlackBerry application. While limited to just the BlackBerry Torch for now, Gist is available in BlackBerry App World for download. So, what can you do with Gist for BlackBerry?
Use Gist for BlackBerry smartphones to:
- Search and view complete business profiles for contacts across email, mobile, and social network accounts; and add contacts from your BlackBerry smartphone automatically.
- See your important contacts first, including easy access to contact info, photo, and social updates; share a link through email; or take a note to remember later.
- Use the “Get the Gist” context menu instantly to build a profile or get a quick update for any email recipient or person in a calendar invite.
If you're already a Gist user, then downloading it is a no brainer. If you're new to Gist, then you can jump on past the break for a video explaining the services and to see the app in action. You can also hit the source link for further details or just head on over to App World for the download. Continue Reading →
