Just in time for the holidays, BlackBerry has now updated their suite of Android apps for Priv, DTEK50 and DTEK60. This time around there's plenty of changes to be noted for all the apps across the board including enhancements to Hub+, the BlackBerry Keyboard, and the BlackBerry Launcher.

BlackBerry appoints former U.S. Coast Guard CIO to lead Federal Cybersecurity Operations Center

BlackBerry has announced they have named Rear Admiral Robert "Bob" E. Day, Jr., U.S. Coast Guard (Ret.) to lead their forthcoming federal Cybersecurity Operations Center (CSOC) and product FedRAMP initiatives. Having been a key member of BlackBerry's AtHoc advisory board since retiring in 2014 and serving five years as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Commander of Coast Guard Cyber Command, Rear Admiral Day brings 34-years of career experience in Federal information technology and cybersecurity to the position.

BBM for Android updated with bug fixes and support for longer chats!

While BBM for BlackBerry 10 was updated earlier with bug fixes and performance improvements, BlackBerry also decided it was a great time to update BBM for Android as well. Going a bit further than bug fixes and performance improvements, the Android release of BBM has a larger changelog, though, not much larger.

BlackBerry OS autoloader files now available as OS goes official

This is it. Finally, BlackBerry OS has been released. Well, kind of. I know it has been a while since the last BlackBerry 10 update, so in case you all forgot, the way updates work is that they go live on BlackBerry's servers before they start appearing on devices and because of that, folks can create their own installer files known as autoloaders. Such is the case here, right now.

For those of you out there who have been having issues sending videos on WhatsApp for BlackBerry 10 since the last update, now is a good time to go ahead give it a go to see if the issues are remaining. According to the WhatsApp for BlackBerry 10 developer, it was not the update that caused the problems but rather a server side change. This change has now been fixed, and you should once again be able to send videos through WhatsApp on BlackBerry 10. Looking for a new build of BBM on BlackBerry 10? BlackBerry has you covered. A new release has now arrived in BlackBerry World and is available for download. As with the last release, this one keeps things simple in regards to the changelog, simply noting there is 'bug fixes and performance improvements' to be found within. BlackBerry awarded Cyber Essentials Plus certification from the UK Government

BlackBerry has now announced they have become the first major mobile vendor to receive the new Cyber Essentials Plus (CE+) certification from the UK Government. Additionally, BlackBerry has announced they are now an accredited certifying body for Cyber Essentials Plus, with the certification being offered through BlackBerry Cybersecurity Services.

Since it was announced that Samsung would be making an aggressive push into the connected car space by way of their $8 billion acquisition auto infotainment and audio provider Harman, there has been a lot of speculation around what it means for everyone else in the connected car industry and that of course includes, QNX, which Harman owned between 2004-2010 before selling it to BlackBerry.

Additionally, BlackBerry has been responding on their blog with a similar message.
